Next Pick-up Saturday August 14th!

Our next pick-up is this upcoming Saturday August 14th! Please have your red bag out and ready to go by 9:00am. When our drivers take your filled red bag, they'll leave you an empty one for next time. Tax receipts will be emailed out after the pick up. Things to know about this pickup:

  • If you know you will NOT be participating next Saturday, please be sure to let us know by responding to this email. These reminders are a bulk mailing, so please disregard it if you've previously notified us and received confirmation back -- no need to notify us again.

  • Please use your reusable ASG red bag. If you dropped off last time and didn't grab a replacement bag at the food bank office, feel free to use another type of bag, but please clearly mark it with "ASG" so our drivers know it's okay to take from your porch!

  • NO Sunday or Monday make up days, and NO pick up of missed/late bags this month. If you do not have your bag out on your porch by 9:00am next Saturday, and/or it's missed, we regret we will be unable to pick it up later. You may either drop it off directly at the food bank (details below), or save it until our next pickup day in October.

  • If you'd prefer to drop your bag off directly to The Salvation Army's (TSA) food bank instead of having us pick it up on August 14th, feel free to do so, but please email us (if you haven't already done so) to let us know you will not need pickup at your home. TSA has a cart outside their front office door for drop offs. They're located at 3001 R Avenue, and their office hours are Mon - Thurs, 9am-4pm (closed 12-1pm for lunch). A replacement red bag can be found just inside TSA's front office door in their lobby.

Current Needs: Protein drinks (Ensure, etc), crackers in plastic sleeves (ex,. saltines, ritz), Vienna sausages, Spam, sardines, canned chicken, Pinto beans, refried beans, black beans, mayonnaise, pasta roni/rice-a-roni, Hamburger Helper, canned peas, and soups other than chicken noodle. You may also refer to the foods listed on the tag attached to your red bag for other items.

(Please note, the food bank currently has plenty of the following, and does NOT NEED: Spaghetti sauce, granola bars, dry pasta, canned fruit, top ramen, tomato sauce/canned tomatoes, mac & cheese, pork & beans, chicken noodle soup, and tuna)

Special Request: **Please remember these are EXTRA items to add to your bag should you choose. Otherwise, please focus on food shortages.**

Personal care items: 8-16 oz sizes shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash, dish soap, toothbrushes, toilet paper, paper towels, deodorant, tampons, feminine liners/pads, and small containers of laundry detergent. (8-16 ounce sized containers of the above bottled items are preferred over sample/travel or extra large/Costco sizes.)

While we prefer donations of red bags filled with food when possible, monetary donations can be made via our online Square store at https://a-simple-gesture-anacortes.square.site, or by mailed check payable to A Simple Gesture - Anacortes, P.O. Box 1413, Anacortes, WA 98221.
